MADRONA MORGANS – ED AND MARY REIN – AUBURN, WA<\/p>\n
Machias Supreme had a beautiful bay or dark brown colt by Meredith Bilirubin on April 1st. He has a small star and will probably be named Madrona Gentleman Jim. Woodstock Tabitha\u2019s \u201cBilly foal\u201d is 22 days late now, and we are sticking very close to her side, as you can imagine. This foal will be the second full Lippitt we have raised.
\nBilirubin attended a 4 day show, The April Fool\u2019s Classic, March 28-31. We are extremely pleased with his performance and also that of Kathy Badda, the young amateur that has been working with him. He won a 3rd in hand; 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in English Pleasure, and winning enough money in the championship class to pay for the gas. That\u2019s a real success! Arabians, Saddlebreds, and National Show Horses were included in the show, and, as usual, Billy\u2019s flashy appearance and gentle manners received lots of attention.
\nWe had a wonderful and all too short visit from Anne Hablitzel; she\u2019s a great person and fast becoming a member of the family. She helped with everything from chores to a horse show to helping with a foaling.<\/p>\n
ANNE HABLITZEL – SALEM, OR<\/p>\n
Just spent a wonderful week with Ed and Mary Rein in Washington. My vacation started off with a flurry as Mary and I attended a horse show Saturday night and Sunday to see Billy perform (and perform well, of course!). It was something to see him stand there in the cross ties after one class, with a couple of little kids on his back.
\nAn exciting first for me was to see one of their mares give birth to a big bay colt on Monday night. He is a half-Lippitt by Bilirubin, and is a super guy, really friendly and affectionate.
\nEd and Mary have the video of the 1984 Lippitt Country Show, so I got to watch that. How exciting! What beautiful horses, and I was very interested to see Woodstock Mr. Bill perform, as he is a full brother to the foal I am expecting in June (Meredith Bilirubin x Meredith Lass).
\nOh, I almost forgot the highlight of the trip! I\u2019ve been wanting to ride Billy for two years now, and I finally did. I just expected to get on and walk around a little, but his trainer started giving me saddle seat lessons while I was up there. I was concentrating so hard on what I was doing that I forgot I had a stallion under me! That\u2019s Lippitt disposition for you. Well, space doesn\u2019t allow me to tell you about the rat in the barn\u2026another time maybe.<\/p>\n
(Facebook page administrator\u2019s note: Woodstock Tabitha\u2019s foal that year was a bay filly named Madrona Trilby. Madrona Trilby produced one full Lippitt, Cantus April Song – by John Ethan Ashbrook. Meredith Lass\u2019s 1985 foal, which Anne acquired, was a bay colt named Madrona Ethan Ash. Anne Hablitzel and Madrona Ethan Ash later moved across the country to Hartland, VT, where Anne began breeding Lippitts under the \u201cOld Vermont\u201d prefix. Madrona Ethan Ash sired 14 full Lippitts.)<\/p>\n
