Happy Friday! Here is a Friday Flashback for you, part one. This is a piece written by historian Betsy Curler:

Beginning in 1848 the Royalston Horse (a.k.a. Green Mountain Morgan 42) was accompanied by a dog companion. At the time, the horse was owned by Silas Hale of Royalston, Massachusetts. Hale traveled with the horse extensively. The dog was very attached to the horse. The dog would not allow anyone to enter the horse’s stall without first having been accompanied by owner Hale. After that, that person could enter the horse’s stall during the daytime hours. It was reported in 1852 that the horse earned ten thousand dollars for Hale, after expenses, in the previous ten years.
